Howdy. My name is Matt and I live in the Astoria neighborhood of Queens in New York City with my wife and dog and I review books (sometimes anyway). When not providing opinions on bound (well I guess it's really mostly electronic now) written works I do consumer insights for a major food corporation. And when not peddling foodstuffs or writing this blog you can probably find me doing some sort of exercise, watching sports, or doing a crossword.

The reviews include links to Amazon and Goodreads pages to the books in the hopes that readers find such pages useful to learn more about them. I don't have an Amazon affiliate link and I only maintain this blog for fun and to occasionally get advance review copies of books.

"Bats Aren't Bugs" refers to a story arc in the outstanding comic Calvin and Hobbes from 1989 in which the title character Calvin has to complete a book report. Despite encasing said report in a snazzy plastic binder, Calvin's report on bats, which was completed in a haphazard 15 minutes, is met with derision by his classmates and teacher, especially Calvin's erroneous claim that bats are bugs, with his classmates yelling in unison that "Bats Aren't Bugs." Here is a link to the comic. Hopefully my reviews are slightly more edifying than Calvin's.
